The Night Comes For Us (Indonesia, 2018)

The Night Comes For Us

Indonesia | 2018 | D: Timo Tjahjanto

Back in 2011 a little movie called “The Raid” was released, and all the action movies lovers around the world collectively lost their minds over how amazing the film was. Almost 100 minutes of non-stop action featuring a relative new comer to cinema called Iko Uwais. He performed his own stunts and injected his unique martial arts style into the film spread out with some heavy gun play. It was fast, it was action packed but it was easy to follow and easy to enjoy. He was on his way to becoming this generation’s Jackie Chan.

Bleeding Steel (China, 2017)

Bleeding Steel

China | 2017 | D: Leo Zhang

There wouldn’t be a single person on the planet who dislikes Jackie Chan and/or his movies. They’re always fun little, inoffensive romps with the classic good vs bad guy, plenty of stunts and lots of action. But lately, Mr Chan’s output has been a mixed bag. For every “The Foreigner” there is a “Karate Kid”. And Bleeding Steel is definitely in The Karate Kid category.

Wolf Warrior 2 (China, 2017)

Wolf Warrior 2

China | 2017 | D: Jing Wu

Have you ever wondered what it would look like if China decided to make their own Rambo film (Rambo 3 or 4, not the first Rambo, don’t be silly)? Well wonder no more – China would like to present to you: Wolf Warrior 2, the supposed sequel to Wolf Warrior.

One Cut of the Dead (Japan, 2017)

One Cut of the Dead

Japan | 2017 | D: Shin'ichirô Ueda

I am going to start this write-up by announcing that this is one of the best and most original horror comedy movies you will ever see – but you need to watch it all the way through for the pay off.

I went into this movie blind – only attracted to the thumbnail and the name on the streaming site. Being Japanese, I knew I would be in for one hell of a good ride – I just really wasn’t expecting this.

Slaw (USA, 2016)

Slaw

USA | 2016 | D: Matt Green

Everyone loves a silly movie every now and then right? Well this could be that silly movie that just stops you from watching more silly movies for a little while!
Plot? Story? Yes there is something there, about two brothers – one who is very large and the other who is very short, who have kidnapped 7 people. What did these people do wrong? They’ve upset/offended the brothers at eating establishments.

Titanic 2 (USA, 2010)

Titanic 2

USA | 2010 | D: Shane Van Dyke

One of the biggest box office movies of the 90’s gets an awesome sequel.. from The Asylum. They’re well known for their high quality films, like Snakes on a Train, so you know this is going to be terrific.

It would be really easy to write all the negatives about this movie and not focus on the positives – so that’s what I am going to do! Because quite frankly they didn’t get much right.
